Saz's Hospitality Group

Craft Development, LLC recently redeveloped a 30,000sf building at 201 West Walker Street for Saz's Hospitality Group. The property, located in Milwaukee's Walker's Point Neighborhood dated back to 1920 and was formerly home to Federal Manufacturing. It now houses an expansive state-of-the-art kitchen, cold storage, warehousing, and front office operation.

In just under 11 months, Craft Development discovered the building, assembled the project team, completed due diligence, lined up financing, and renovated the facility in time for Saz's busy summer season.

Some project highlights include:

  • Non-traditional financing package including Bank and Community Development Corp. participation.
  • Cash Grant Awards in  excess of $50,000
  • 10% Federal Historic Tax Credit Eligible Project

Lakefront Brewery, Inc.

Craft Development, LLC is currently working with the award-winning Lakefront Brewery, Inc. on a variety projects:

Current Projects:

  • Craft Development is consulting on the redevelopment of the river walk beer garden and new entry bridge at Lakefront Brewery's Beer Hall and brewery located at 1872 N. Commerce Street.

Completed Projects:

  • Craft Development, LLC recently oversaw a 6,900-square foot expansion of Lakefront's cold storage/warehouse facility located in the Harambee neighborhood.
  • Craft Development oversaw the installation of a massive spent grain silo at the brewery facility on Commerce Street.

Future Projects:

  • Craft Development is assisting Lakefront Brewery with due diligence and planning of a  25,000-square foot addition to the current brewery facility located at 1872 N. Commerce Street.  The building will include production, packaging, storage, office, event space, and a green roof. The brewery will provide tours of the facility to the public as part of the company’s existing tour business at the adjacent site.

These projects combine urban redevelopment and craft beer - two passions of Craft Development.

The University Club of Milwaukee

Craft Development, LLC recently guided the University Club of Milwaukee through a transformative and intricate renovation of its first floor. The new space provides an unparalleled new dining and social experience for club members. This project further solidifies the club as one of the city's most architecturally and culturally significant institutions,

Some project highlights include:

  • Renovation of designated historic structure originally designed by John Russell Pope
  • First Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financed project in the State of Wisconsin. 

 

 

CITY REFORMED CHURCH (CRC)

In search of space for their growing congregation, City Reformed Church partnered with Craft Development on a site search and redevelopment effort. Craft Development, LLC provided tenant representation services for the transaction as well as development services for the entitlement, financing, and construction. The completed building brings new life to a long vacant property at 1661 N. Farwell Ave in Milwaukee's Historic Brady Street Neighborhood.

The space serves as a weekly worship space on Sundays, as well as a venue for church and community needs during the week. The 8,740-square foot building includes a sanctuary, office space, classroom/conference space, a large common room, and kitchen. 

 

Brookfield Christian School, Inc. (BCS)

Continued growth in enrollment coupled with the strong commitment of alumni, friends, and families enabled BCS to expand its facility with additional classroom space, library/media center, and a regulation size gymnasium.

Craft Development, LLC performed Owner's Representative services for the school - which holds special significance to founder Dan Katt, who  is a graduate of BCS.

Previous Experience

Prior to starting Craft Development, LLC, Dan Katt had a successful career working for two of Wisconsin's most respected firms in the development business - Findorff (construction) and Eppstein Uhen Architects. Dan held a variety of positions during this time with roles in estimating, project management, operations, and project development.
